Olivia DiCamilli, Women's Basketball Coach PDF Print E-mail

Olivia Ann DiCamilli moved from San Diego, California, in August of 2000 to attend RHEMA Bible Training Center. During the 2000–01 school year, she volunteered as an assistant coach for the Lady Eagles basketball team.

She came on staff as an assistant coach for the 2001–02 school year and in 2002–03 Olivia became the head coach.

Before coming to RHEMA, Olivia earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from San Diego State University (SDSU) in 1997. She immediately began working on her Master’s degree in Communication while finishing her fifth year of basketball eligibility as an SDSU Lady Aztec. While completing her Master’s degree, she taught speech classes for two years to college freshmen. In 2000, she received her degree with honors.

Olivia’s basketball experience includes leading the Costa Mesa (California) High School basketball team to the state championship during her senior year and to four Southern Section California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) championships in four years. Olivia finished her high school basketball career as the all-time leading scorer in Orange County history with over 2,300 points. She was a three-time All-State selection and four-time All-CIF selection.

A basketball scholarship led Olivia to SDSU, where the Lady Aztecs won three Western Athletic Conference Championships and made three NCAA tournament appearances under Coach Beth Burns. During her junior and senior years, Olivia served as team captain and made second-team All-Western Athletic Conference and Academic All-Conference. Olivia finished her SDSU career eighth for all-time in free throws and ninth in rebounds. She was a scholar-athlete all four years at SDSU earning a 3.5 GPA; was a Student Athlete Advisory Committee member; and was active in community outreaches which involved public speaking at local high schools.

“My desire in coming to RHEMA was to develop a deeper relationship with the Lord and learn how to live a victorious Christian life. Coming to RHEMA was a pivotal point in my life. It is and has been exactly where I’m supposed to be!” said Coach DiCamilli.

As a coach, Olivia enjoys teaching players and watching them grow in the game. She feels one of her responsibilities as a coach is to locate each girl’s strength and unique potential and then find a way to draw them out. “When each team member is operating at her full potential, then the team as a whole is a success,” she said. “When I see them ‘get it’ and rise to another level, surpassing their own expectations, I feel like I have done my job.”

In May 2002, Olivia graduated from RBTC with a specialty in pastoral studies and is also a 2003 graduate of RHEMA’s School of Pastoral Ministry.
