The Rhema Lady Eagles fought hard against Central Christian College of the Bible Monday night but came up on the short end of a 59-52 final. With the loss, Rhema’s record stands at 8-13 for the year.

When the Lady Eagles connect on their outside shots, they are hard to stop. Against the Lady Saints, Rhema connected on only 21 percent (4-of-19) of their shots from three-point range, but hit 48 percent (15-for-31) from inside the arc.

Trailing by six late in the contest, the Lady Eagles looked to freshman forward Vanessa Zailo to get them back in the game. Zailo connected on three straight shots to tie the game at 50. Central Christian took a two-point lead with a bucket, and after a missed shot by Rhema, the Eagles were forced to foul. The Lady Saints hit their free throws down the stretch to seal the seven-point victory.

Zailo led all scorers with 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and had three steals. Jamie Davis finished the game with 19 points, six rebounds, and two steals.

The Lady Eagles return to action Thursday, January 26, when they travel to Springdale, Arkansas, to play Ecclesia College. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
