Rhema Overcomes Double-Digit Halftime Deficit to Win

For the second consecutive game, the Rhema Eagles found themselves trailing by double digits at halftime. And for the second consecutive game, the Eagles dominated the closing half to earn a come-from-behind victory. Rhema’s latest victim was the Ecclesia College Royals, who dropped a 76-69 decision Thursday night in Springdale, Arkansas. The Eagles have won their last four games and five of their last six to improve their record to 7-13.

Trailing by a score of 42-32 at the break, the Eagles relied on their defense and rebounding to get themselves back into the contest. Rhema limited Ecclesia to only 27 second-half points with smothering defense. When the Royals managed to get off a shot, the Eagles crashed the boards, outrebounding their opponent by 11 (47-36).

Rhema’s freshman guard Brody Christian matched his season-high of 20 points on 73 percent shooting (8-for-11) for the second consecutive contest. He also grabbed four rebounds and had two steals. Sophomore guard Caylan Andre notched his third double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Over the last three contests, Andre has averaged a double-double with 16.7 points and 10.3 rebounds. Marc Gustin chipped in 12 points and six rebounds.

The Eagles return to action Saturday afternoon when they play host to Crowley’s Ridge at the Ninowski Recreation Center. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
