eagles 19Rhema Overcomes Double-Digit Deficit to Win Third Straight

Despite falling behind by 18 points in the first half to the Baptist Bible College Patriots, the Rhema Eagles battled back to earn a 94-90 victory on Saturday night at the Ninowski Recreation Center. After starting the season 2-12, the Eagles have won four of their last five games to improve to 6-13 for the season.

The Patriots shot the ball well for the game, connecting on nearly 50 percent of their shots (33-for-67), but when they missed, more often than not, Rhema grabbed the rebound. The Eagles finished with a 51-37 rebounding advantage, and outscored Baptist Bible 23-9 in second-chance points. Rhema also outscored the Patriots from the charity stripe 28-16, connecting on 72 percent (28-for-39) while the Patriots hit only 64 percent (16-for-25).

Sophomore guard Caylan Andre led the Eagles with a season-high 27 points, nine rebounds, five steals, and three assists. Freshman guard Brody Christian finished with 20 points and nine rebounds, both season highs. He also had four assists and four steals. Kasey Byrd had 17 points, while Mike Jenkins notched his first double-double of the year with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Eagles return to action Thursday, January 26, when they travel to Springdale, Arkansas, to take on Ecclesia College. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
