Rhema Gaining Experience Against Stiff Competition

Playing Texas A&M International University for the second time in as many days, the Rhema Eagles found themselves on the wrong side of an 88-38 final Friday in Laredo, Texas. The loss drops the Eagles, who are currently on a six-game losing skid, to 2-9 for the season. Tobe noted, each of Rhema’s last six opponents were NCAA Division II or NAIA schools.

The Dustdevils jumped on Rhema from the outset, starting the game on a 16-0 run and held a commanding 52-14 advantage at the break. Rhema was outscored 36-24 in the second half to account for the final score. The undersized Eagles were outrebounded 47-24 for the game.

Kasey Byrd led Rhema with 14 points, while Parris Hoskins finished with eight points and four rebounds. Josh White finished with a game-high seven rebounds, while Mike Jenkins chipped in four rebounds and four steals.

The Eagles return to action Thursday, January 5, when they play host to Eastern Oklahoma State College. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
