Lady Eagles Lose Season Opener

Women's BasketballYoung Rhema Squad Gaining Game Experience

When asked about her team, Rhema Lady Eagles Head Coach Kerri Sharp said, “We are going to be good. We are young but after some game experience and playing together, we will be a good basketball team.” In their first contest of the season, the Lady Eagles’ youth showed as they fell to the Bacone College Lady Warriors 84-45.

Rhema (0-1), with a roster of one senior, three sophomores, and four freshmen, got off to a sluggish start and was down by a 49-16 margin at the half. After the break, the Lady Eagles played much more competitively, but were outscored 35-29.

The Lady Eagles were led by sophomore Candace Tripke and freshman Jamie Davis, as they each scored 13 points and grabbed three rebounds. Freshman Vanessa Zailo narrowly missed a double-double with eight points and 13 rebounds.
