The Rhema Lady Eagles started their season slowly but have found their stride. On Tuesday, they defeated the Barclay Lady Bears 67-45 in Haviland, Kansas, to earn their 10th win of the year. After their first five games they were 0-5, but Rhema’s record now stands at 10-14.

Against Barclay, the Lady Eagles used defensive pressure and rebounding to earn the victory. Rhema forced 23 turnovers, had 11 steals, and outrebounded the Lady Bears 53-40. The Lady Eagles held Barclay to only 49 shots and a 22 percent shooting percentage (11-for-49), including 18 percent (2-for-11) from three-point range. Read more...

 
Rhema’s Caylan Andre Named USCAA Player of the Week PDF Print E-mail

caylan andreAveraged a Double-Double in Two Victories

Caylan Andre, a sophomore forward from Rhema Bible College, is the Division I Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Andre averaged 15.5 points and 13 rebounds per game, leading the Eagles to a 2-0 record on the week. During that span he also shot 50 percent from the field and added three blocks.

Andre started the season slowly while battling injuries, but is coming back to his true form. Even with his slow start, Andre leads the team in rebounds per game (7.6), field-goal percentage (61 percent), and double-doubles (4). He is tied for fourth in points per game (10), second in steals (20), and third in assists (14).

 

 
Eagle’s Winning Streak Snapped PDF Print E-mail

eaglesRhema Falls to Barclay 78-74

The Rhema Eagles saw their five-game winning streak snapped by the Barclay Bears in a 78-74 loss Tuesday night in Haviland, Kansas. The loss drops Rhema’s record to 8-14 for the season.

Neither team shot particularly well from the floor, both connecting on 34 percent of their shots. The Eagles shot 25 percent from beyond the arc, while the Bears shot 28 percent. Even free-throw shooting was close, as Rhema hit 76 percent of its attempts, while Barclay connected on 70 percent. Barclay, however, had 41 free-throw shots, compared to only 21 for the Eagles. Rhema was outscored from the charity stripe 29-16. The Eagles had four players foul out, had one other player with four fouls, while Barclay had no players with more than three fouls. Read more...

The Rhema Lady Eagles dropped their second game in a row after being defeated 64-49 by the Ecclesia College Lady Royals Thursday night in Springdale, Arkansas. After the 15-point loss, Rhema stands at 8-14 for the season.

Despite holding a one-point halftime advantage, Rhema was limited to 22 second-half points, while the home-standing Lady Royals posted 38. For the game, Ecclesia shot 54 percent from the floor (22-of-41) while Rhema shot only 34 percent (19-for-47). Read more...

Lady EaglesDrop to 0-4 on the Season

The Rhema Lady Eagles continue to battle each game, but so far the outcome on the scoreboard hasn’t matched the team’s effort. Rhema fell to the Ecclesia College Lady Royals 66-52 Friday night at the Ninowski Recreation Center to drop to 0-4 on the season.
