Averaged a Double-Double in Two Victories

Caylan Andre, a sophomore forward from Rhema Bible College, is the Division I Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Andre averaged 15.5 points and 13 rebounds per game, leading the Eagles to a 2-0 record on the week. During that span he also shot 50 percent from the field and added three blocks.

Andre started the season slowly while battling injuries, but is coming back to his true form. Even with his slow start, Andre leads the team in rebounds per game (7.6), field-goal percentage (61 percent), and double-doubles (4). He is tied for fourth in points per game (10), second in steals (20), and third in assists (14).

Rhema Falls to Barclay 78-74

The Rhema Eagles saw their five-game winning streak snapped by the Barclay Bears in a 78-74 loss Tuesday night in Haviland, Kansas. The loss drops Rhema’s record to 8-14 for the season.

Neither team shot particularly well from the floor, both connecting on 34 percent of their shots. The Eagles shot 25 percent from beyond the arc, while the Bears shot 28 percent. Even free-throw shooting was close, as Rhema hit 76 percent of its attempts, while Barclay connected on 70 percent. Barclay, however, had 41 free-throw shots, compared to only 21 for the Eagles.
